Unity / New FX questions
Last post by Noel -
We have owned a Unity MB for 6 years and love it. The only problem is that my wife has health issues now and can't sleep.  We are looking for a dual living area option such as the FX or RL so she has somewhere to go when she can't sleep.
My questions are
Outside storage
Shower size (I am a wide body)
Will the new LTVs run the Air conditioner with the large Lithium battery and for how long. We have a dog that we leave in the motor home when we are doing touristy things.  I would rather not have a generator; I would rather have the storage.
Any current owners of the FX or RL have any advice.
We only do overnight dry camping typically and use our LTV for traveling and sightseeing. We will normally put about 10K miles on a year and a 3-night stay is about the max before we move on.
Biggest problem with the murphy bed is the size of the freshwater tank, but we deal with it and fill and dump regularly if possible.

Unity / Re: Battery Upgrades Phoenix

the year of the Unity you are upgrading from can make a difference.
LifePO2 with the higher Amp Hours may need new controllers if upgrading from 6 Volt  Flooded Lead Acid/AGM batteries
There is an LTV  facebook group that might have better info then this one.

Does anyone have any recommendations in Phoenix for well qualified installers who do Lithium battery upgrades?

Unity / Re: Sheepskin seat covers?

We have covers from US Sheepskin and they are very well made, though spendy.  They are comfortable, though not as comfortable as I had hoped - still a bit hot in the summer, but better breathing than the original seats.  They are great in winter!

Oooooo more to consider. It will be stored in central Florida so no freezing to worry about and only in winter so i will keep an eye on the temp but should be ok.  Losing the Mercedes App would not be good. I will have to consider the ease of just disconnecting vs adding a trickle charger. Thank you for that option

Thank you!  I have been reading reading reading and your reply makes it so clear.
I have no issue with the above advice, but you didn't say whether the RV would be stored covered or outdoors. If outdoors, the solar charging would keep your house batteries charged. In my case, when I stored outside over the winter I left the 12V house side switched on so my Winegard hotspot remained active. I like being able to remotely monitor inside temp and I use a wifi camera to visually be able to check on things.
Also note the if you want to monitor the chassis stuff through the Mercedes app, you loose that capability by disconnecting the chassis battery ground.
In my case, I had a AMP-L-Start B-2-B battery charger so I could also top-up the chassis battery from when the house batteries got charged via solar.

with solar all you need to do for the house batteries is turn the Main Power off
for the chassis battery - there is a "Battery Isolation cable" which you can find in the MB manual.  It is located beside the gas pedal. and there might be Fuse #32 that needs to be pulled out.  No trickle charger needed.
If you do not have a manual you can get one from Owner Manuals | Mercedes-Benz Vans
Battery Isolation cable disconnect is the same has pulling the negative wire on the battery.  After you have turned the engine off and pulled the key you need to wait 20+ seconds before pulling the diconnect cable as that will save all the computer settings

Unity / Newbie to rving and need storage advice

We just bought a 2022 ltv unity mb with lithium batteries and 400 watt solar on the roof. We need to store it for about 5 months and we are not sure what the house and chassis batteries require. We are in Florida so no worry about freezing. Do i need to keep it plugged in?  Power knob off? Chassis batteries same as house?  Any guidance would be great
