Title: New FX questions
Post by: Noel on January 15, 2026, 05:26:37 pm
We have owned a Unity MB for 6 years and love it. The only problem is that my wife has health issues now and can't sleep.  We are looking for a dual living area option such as the FX or RL so she has somewhere to go when she can't sleep.
My questions are
Outside storage
Shower size (I am a wide body)
Will the new LTVs run the Air conditioner with the large Lithium battery and for how long. We have a dog that we leave in the motor home when we are doing touristy things.  I would rather not have a generator; I would rather have the storage.
Any current owners of the FX or RL have any advice.
We only do overnight dry camping typically and use our LTV for traveling and sightseeing. We will normally put about 10K miles on a year and a 3-night stay is about the max before we move on.
Biggest problem with the murphy bed is the size of the freshwater tank, but we deal with it and fill and dump regularly if possible.

there is a new model the RTBx which is on the UNity side of LTV that came out this week that might work?
it has a large garage to store mobility scooters or ebikes  + can still tow 5,000 lbs if you are looking at a toad.

I looked at the LTBX video. It would work but I am hooked on the leisure lounge.  The other issue is availability.  We are looking for something that is already sitting on a lot.
We have actually talked to ourselves into a FX. The two chairs facing each other in the RL looks kind of stupid.
We are actually heading to Van city in Las Vegas to take a look at all of them though.  Wife will make the final decision and you know how that goes.

We have a 2023 RL.  For us it’s nearly perfect!  Upside is the back lounge/bed can be cut off for sleeping different schedules (this is must have for us).  The bed is mostly in the down position, but on rainy days it’s nice to have that space for doing things.  I have a bad back, and the price you pay for having such dual use furniture is that none are terribly comfortable.  That said, rotating the front seats backward and using the facing seats as an ottoman works quite well and is very comfy.

RL also has the smallish 25 gallon freshwater tank like the FX, we don’t find it very challenging as we are pretty miserly with our water.  We ended up putting a storage box on the hitch for more exterior storage, the RL is a little low in that department but workable.  The added hitch storage is mostly for longer items.  We like that it doesn’t have a slide, less to worry about and more weight capacity. (1500lb OCCC).

You really need to get inside each and see how they are for your needs, as everyone is different.  Good luck!
