Canadian RV's left in US storage facilities

Can a Canadian registered RV be temporarily left in a US storage facility while the registered owner travels back to Canada or another country?  My plan is to drive into the US in the late fall and tour around a bit.  Then store the RV somewhere in the southern US while I fly to another country in January or February.  Then fly back, pick up the RV and make my way back to Canada in the spring.  Also, I want to make sure this is possible in case I need to fly home for an emergency while I am touring in the US.

I checked with Manitoba Public Insurance and they said as long as the state allows a Canadian registered vehicle to be stored, their insurance would be valid for the time it's in storage.  They said I would have to check with the specific state as every state could have different rules regarding this.

Anyone have any experience with this?  Thanks
