Help us learn

We are new. Just buying used Unity. We would like to know what users would like to tell us.  Help us learn what we don't know.

If you tell us what you know, that might be a starting point!

Which Unity model and year are you getting? It makes a difference as it might have a slide.
Once you have a serial # join MyLTV  https://leisurevans.com/myltv/log-in/  where you find manuals if you can not find the right one on this forum.  and there are videos.
so some Newbie stuff I learned and/or wished I new before we started driving our new to us 2016 MB this year.
What is the previous owner leaving behind.?
Levelling blocks and chocks and a bubble level or 2 for setting up.
Always have the coach level before taking out the slide
A good selection of tools in a tool box is a must if you can fix stuff.
Do not go out and buy stuff just because you saw it in a video?  take it out to a campground close to home to learn what is missing. Get one with Full service then try one with limited service so you can figure how long your water and tanks will last.  Check you tanks levels often to see how much it takes to fill up.
Get powdered scented dishwasher soap then add a scoop in hot water to dump in the toilet after emptying. it is cheaper then the other stuff.  Get the right toilet paper - do NOT use regular toilet paper.
The water pump is noisy - you will not find out if you have full service so becomes a surprise when not hooked up to water.
The microwave is also a convector oven - there is a video out there on how to use it like an Oven.  Convection baking question | Sprinter-Source.com
the Becker GPS from MB sucks - get a tablet with google offline maps or a Garmin/Tomtom hand held unit.  Do not spend the $99 to upgrade the Becker maps; learned that one from a friend who bought them before finding out how back Becker was. He installed a Garmin he had.
If you have a slide make sure the van is level before extending it out.  and learn how to install the travel lock - there is a wrong way - learned that one the really hard way.
Get a tire pressure gauge that works with the dually tires especially if there is no valve extensions
Find out if it has a macerator - if not look at the sewer hose to see how it is connected or if they have added accessories like a view window.
Will it come with a Fresh water hose and a separate water hose for flushing the black tank?
Get some bungee cords - lots of different sizes they will be used for lots of stuff
The fridge is not like your house fridge - read up on how to precool the fridge- and how to use ice or ice packs
If it has the awning with the supports pay attention to how you twist then out.  if the wrong way the clip will not fit in the slot on the wall of the RV.  Get pool noodles for the supports so you do not run into them (we go the bright pink ones)
It takes some learning to see what fits best in each luggage compartment +makes sure to spread the weight around.
Wish I had discovered that the outdoor mat that came with it was easy to fold and store as it does make a difference on how much dirt gets into the RV.
