I just added a Roof Top Carrier to our Unity and wow is it nice. We will not be using it all the time but only when we go skiing. Made by Thule and it is the Alpine version.

We now are full on the roof.

Spare tire behind it
AC
Weingard internet
And a couple of antennas

Who installed the carrier? Are the carrier mounting brackets mounted directly to the 1inch square tubing sub structure that runs across the top? I have a print / diagram of the internal structure and location of the square tubing and would like to install a roof top carrier for a Thule box and surf boards. Probably towards the rear of the coach, but it requires moving the solar panels a bit.

I ran electrical struts 1.5" tall the length of the RV and then 1.5" struts across so anything you mount can be moved around and it is now very much like a rood rack on a car. You should see my YouTube channel as I will be giving more info on things like this that I did.

I was not able to locate the stricture under the roof on all screws but is is not blowing off. I also used 1/8" thick washers under the strut so water can roll under it and put the good RV caulk in the hole and over the screw head. Of you have any layout structure stuff I would love to see it.

I use an 8' collapsible ladder to get into it and it is not problem reaching in it so I don't have to go on the roof. I store the ladder under my bike rack with bungee cords and it stays perfect. If I hqve to get in the roof I use my bike rack as a platform with the 8' ladder and I can easily then get on the roof. Soon to come this topic on my "LTVnIT" channel.

I like the concept a lot, but I am not sure about holding power if you are just screwed into the fiberglass skin. Drilled and tapped into the aluminum square channel would be the way to go. On our current trip we were driving into 40 mph winds doing 70mph. What would that do to your carrier system if it isn't lagged down well??? I'd be afraid of some serious carnage behind me if the system came off down the hwy. But, as I said, I like the idea a lot. This is the first roof top carrier on an LTV that I have seen. Beats having some big box hanging from the hitch.

I hit plenty of aluminum when attaching them. 17k miles later and still hanging not. No worries at all.
