New tires, need some guidance.

Dear all,

I am swapping out my Continental VanContacts 215/85/16 tires. They are so noisy it is hard to communicate when driving. However, in their favor, the ride is firm and they are terrific in reducing sway. I just put on 6 Michelin Cross Country 2s and while the road noise is significantly reduced my RV now sways a great deal when being passed, and i am going to change them out for something with a stiffer sidewall. I was thinking about the XPS Ribs but Michelin rates them as a summer tire. Oddly, Walmart and other sites state the Ribs are All Season. We live in the Northwest where temps often drop below 40 degree, which, apparently, is when you need to swap them out for an all season or winter tire. Not going there. I've phoned Michelin RV Customer Support asking for guidance, but they seemed poorly educated in their products.

So I am looking for some advice/input/recommendations from people with real experience (you guys) on which tires to install on my 21015.5 Unity. I'm looking for a very quiet tire, with stiff sidewalls, all season, I'm not too concerned about tread wear. We are most highways and freeway, but sometimes a bit of dirt/gravel roads, and we like camping in the fall and winter, so some light snow.

Is anyone running on Michelin CrossClimate (not the 2s)?

I'm have always believed in Michelin's, but becoming agnostic.

Any one running Yokohama YKHDXs? Kuhmo Crugen HT 51s?

Thank you in advance for your time and guidance.

Regards,
Greg Ware

I just talked to a Michelin Rep., who said the CrossClimate tire is being discontinued, and the CrossClimate2 was the replacement. I can still get 6 CrossClimate tires, but maybe not for long.

What tire pressures are you running? Michelin is saying 65 lbs. for the front and 60 lbs. for the rears for the CC2s, I was running 62 lbs. in all tires. I'll try the recommended pressures. If that doesn't solve the sway problem, maybe go to 70lbs. If that doesn't work, I'll change out to the CrossClimate and give them a go.

Cheers

If you want to solve the sway problem you need to upgrade parts of the suspension.
I installed Sumo Spring front and rear - made a big difference - Timbren is similar made in Canada
i run at just over 60 psi. both in Michelins in rear - Continental in the front
