Separate Surge Protection

Our 2026 Unity came with a Surge Guard Auto Transfer Switch with Surge Protection.

What have any of you done about getting a separate surge protector like a Hughes Power Watchdog 30-Amp Bluetooth Surge Protector with Auto Shutoff?

I also have a '26 Unity (CB).  I inherited a 30amp and a 50amp from my uncle and figured why not but the 30amp doesn't seem to be working so I'm wondering the same thing.  Do I need to spend another $300 or is the onboard protection sufficient?  I guess I could also use the 50a with a 30a dog bone but not every place will offer 50a service.

If you are looking at adding a surge protector on top of the one already installed please google how that is NOT a good idea.
I have the Surge Guard model 34520 from factory still works BUT it can take up to 2 minutes to cycle through the testing. I makes a clunk when done. I have a tester with a 15A to 30A adapter for the power pole that i use first to check the source and the inside outlets.  Some are GFI that need to be reset if not working.
